FAQs
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently in network with several commercial insurances including BCBS/Premera, Cigna, United and Aetna. Please contact me or search your insurance for confirmation of coverage for your plan.
Please note that being in network with your insurance provider does not always mean that the visit will be covered. Because of this variability, I require patients to self-verify their benefits and coverage to minimize surprises.
What will our first appointment be like?
We will discuss your nutrition, health and lifestyle goals. I will want to know your history, symptoms and challenges. Together, we will come up with a direction of care that will help you progress towards your unique goals.
What is nutrition counseling?
There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach with nutrition. Nutrition counseling allows space for me to understand what effects your food choices and preferences while providing evidence based recommendations.
What is a dietitian? What is a nutritionist?
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are food and nutrition experts with a minimum of a graduate degree from an accredited dietetics program, who completed a supervised practice requirement, passed a national exam and continue professional development throughout their careers. Nutritionist is not a protected title and no formal education is required. Many of these practitioners have training and education, but regulation and coursework are inconsistent.
Why virtual appointments?
With the vast space and fickle weather in Alaska, virtual appointments allow us to remain consistent with appointments to help you achieve your goals. We ask that you find a private space with minimal distractions to make the most of our time together. If you have an interest in an in-person appointment, please reach out via the Contact Us form.
Do you see patients in other states?
Yes! I can see patients in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia.
What does an appointment cost?
Most insurances cover dietitian services. Please contact me or search on your insurances directory to see if I am in network for you. If I am not in network with your insurance, I can provide you with a Superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please note that you are responsible for understanding your unique insurance plan and requirements.
I have a free 10 minute introductory call on my scheduling website as well as packages available. Please schedule below or contact me for more information.
